Let's cut right to the chase. I get customers at the gas station who get a grand total..... of two to three dollars worth of gas. That's not even a full gallon of gasoline, and yes, they are putting it into their car, not a small gas can. This begs the question; where do you plan on going on less than a gallon of gas? Do you plan on turning the street corner and never driving again? How far can you get on a measly gallon of gasoline? By my experiences, you won't get very far. I really don't see the point. If you're going to drive, you might as well fill the tank. Oh, and I don't want to hear bullshit about people being too poor to fill their tanks, because that doesn't fly when it comes to the other costs of having a vehicle, such as insurance. You either have money to go full tank, or you don't have enough to own it. There is no middle ground here.
Comments:
2.) My friends actually used to do this. (granted this was when 2 dollars could get
you over a gallon of gas) They'd then use the newly bought gasoline to go to
the el cheapo gas station in the vicinity and fill up their tank. This strategy
works well when you live at the boundaries of states where there's a dramatic
difference in gas prices (ie: ny/nj) Posted by asunder at 9:44am on Mar/01/2008

3.) How many liters in a gallon?
Gas is about a dollar twelve a liter here, and I'm hearing thats a lot more
expensive than down there. At any rate, I always put in my twenty dollars worth.
It gets you something, at least. Posted by Dark_Warrior2 at 10:18pm on Mar/03/2008

4.) There are 3.785411784 liters to 1 gallon. If gas is $1.12 per liter, that would
convert to $4.24 per gallon. Holy shit dude. Our gas is a dollar less per gallon
than yours is. For me, twenty dollars fills half my tank, since I usually fill
it from near empty for forty. In any case, from your point of view, think of how
much gas you could get from four dollars. That pretty much shows you how stupid
it is for these people to even bother. Posted by Xelger at 2:23am on Mar/04/2008

5.) Absolutely. Why not just ride the bus four times instead?
I completely agree that it's a load of capital BS. I can think of no plausible
reason for somebody to actually do that though. Ideas, gents? Posted by Dark_Warrior2 at 10:17pm on Mar/04/2008

6.) Revelation! That works out to about 1/8th of a tank, if you put in around 5
dollars. Maybe people just like to keep their tanks absolutely full, because
they're living a GTA world, where the gas never seems to run out? Posted by Dark_Warrior2 at 7:00am on Mar/06/2008

the projection of $4/gallon gas prices he says "I haven't heard that",
yet when asked about something else, he says "I have other things that I
need to focus on, like rising gasoline prices". You dumb mother fucker! Gas
is already $3.90/gallon in California, and with a barrell of oil rising over
$120.00/barrel, where else are prices going to go? To quote Christopher Titus
"We're paying $3.00/gallon, and we have a Texas oil man in the White
House...who didn't see that coming!?!" Posted by Minivan at 6:03am on Mar/01/2008
